hey there! I suffer from seasonal migraines! and I too found that sumitriptan succinate injections are the only meds that actually allow me to function. Indeed the prices are outrageous! Last month I spent well over $1000 in all kinds of meds- maxalt, vicodin, some crappy caffeine pills, and anti-depressants. I feel your pain my friend. Drilling a hole in my head during an attack actually does sound kinda nice tho!
I really feel for you and your family and wasn’t aware that the US charged such a high price for Sumatriptan. I suffer from migraine, sometimes I’ll get one every day in a week and just could not live without Sumatriptan. I live in the UK and am prescribed 12 100mg tablets by my doctor for the set UK prescription price at £7.20 which roughly equates to $11-12 US dollars. I find it really shocking that people are having to suffer at such a high price, I just hope that something can be done.
I suffer from chronic migraines, supposedly my doctor can do a Prior Auth for any Sumatriptan, but fails to do so.
I also have had these since at least 5 years old. History of them in my family also.
I feel for you man. Somehow we need to rise up against this bull**** health insurance. wanna call me a commie for wanting universal health care. so be it. you obviously done suffer like millions of other people do.
Hi,
Today was the first time I had to get a script from my Dr
for my headache. I could not believe the price. $220.
You are right I would have done anything for the meds.
I felt like a drug addict because “needed” something to get rid of the pain.
To top it off, my insurance did not cover it. I have UnitedHealth care.
The only thing I can say is buy some stock in it. With
“all” the new stresses in the world today, I think this will be the only way people will be able to afford it.
I’ve had a massive tooth infection, the most pain I’ve ever experienced.
I couldn’t open up my mouth because the air would cause intense pain. i couldn’t eat/drink/talk or anything without causing pain.
Yet even with all of that I’m not sure if that even comes close to the pain of a migraine!
I feel for you and I hope the problem with the cost of Imitrex it alleviated over time.
imitrex sucks! i doesnt work for me. plus i have raynauds and the stupid doctor prescribed me imitrex when i cant take it because it reacts with my circulatory disease.god it sucks. fml
You guys still “buy” drugs. You should check out some torrent sites and download your meds for free. The only drugs I ever had problems with from TorrentRx were vaccines, and that’s because Norton removed the viruses and rendered my MMRs and OPVs useless.
On second thought, maybe the drug is still being manufactured by only the one company. If that is the case, there would be no reason for them to lower the price.
I am in Canada. You have to get a prescription but for the generic sumatriptan here it is $60 for a pack of 6 pills. I was never offered the actual imitrex at my pharmacy. I picked up two packs today and paid $3.50. I am so glad I have employee health benefits, and live in Canada.
ridiculous, isn’t it? I have migraines too. Imitrex is the only thing that works 4 me. Costs me $720 a month, b cuz I need 27 pills (3 packs of 9). That’s a house payment 4 sum people! I was so excited when I heard a generic was coming out. I shocked to find out there was no price difference. Amazing! Why is it so much cheaper in every other country in the world? I wish we could get it OTC too, like the UK. I feel your pain, I do!
I have a bunch of imitrex pills left over.. after the treatment my migraines don’t even show their face!!! so if anyone is interested let me know.. I have around 20. Just putting it out there.
How does your mother carry on? I just have migraines once or twice a month. Please tell your mom that I admire her, and that she is a real hero in my eyes!
A lot of pharmaceutical companies hire people to post in random internet blogs to hype their medications. It wouldn’t surprise me, knowing the level of corruption, for drug company reps to rate this video lower. It also wouldn’t surprise me if they create new accounts and begin posting here to badmouth you.

Just wondering if not for healthcare, then what, damn it!

I agree with the narrator. Another reason why we need health insurance reform in the USA.
um, what i wrote could easily be missunderstood, what i ment was; is there any bad effects of sumatriptamin? like a cloudy vision, dizzieness etc?
ive got sumatriptan teva 100 mg pills, for my stomach. is there anyway i could get a trip by those? just wondering.

This sounds like there must be collusion going on between the various companies. Isn’t this against the law?

I cannot believe our bill for the generic imitrex. generic should mean it costs less. If not, then why bother with a generic!!!
sage this shit
